Here’s MIA’s new video which probably won’t be making the rounds on MTV and was just recently banned from YouTube. It’s powerful stuff and a throwback to the days of sweeping epic videos that were an event when they came on TV. It’s NSFW due to the graphic violence, mild nudity and some rough language in the background - but do make sure to come back and check it out when you get home.
New Brunswick, Canada offers its songstress daughter for your listening pleasure. Ms. Doiron is a blend of folksy blues-rock and mellow indie pop, but she’s all heart - like they say about scrappy, undersized point guards. Running the team, and the floor, with grit and determination these are the types of the players that operate on emotion and find that extra spark to give you their best. And while this may be a stretch of an analogy, I feel confident you’ll connect to Julie’s musical hustle and appreciate her conviction. They say she’s the first one to show up at a gig and the last one to leave…
Welcome back to another exciting edition of GTM-OE. I’m happy to be back guest hosting while Rhett preside over the peace summit between warring tribes in western Mozambique. He is about to bring stability to a land that hasn’t known peace in over seventy years. He’s a true humanitarian. As always, the picture above is your first clue, leave your guesses in the comments section and I’ll update as needed. Good luck…
Update: no correct guesses so far, so here’s your second clue:
Update II: no one has gotten it so far. See if you can use this last clue to piece it all together:
Update II: you guys suck and no one got it right. The correct answer was Blue Velvet, directed by David Lynch and starring Kyle Maclachlan and Dennis Hopper. That means I win because I used my superior intellect to stump you all. Don’t feel bad, it happens all the time. Thanks to everyone for playing and I’ll see you all back here next week.
It’s a band of kids from California who all went to the same daycare and happen to excel in music for their age. They play rock/metal and do a pretty good job of killing it. Check them out playing the legendary Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood (youngest group to ever play there) and you’ll see what I mean. The average band member age is 10 and they enjoy legos, hanging out and shredding sweet jams. Got to respect that. Check out their site for more info.
Welcome back to another exciting edition of GTM-OE. I’m happy to be back guest-hosting this week while Rhett continues his journey of self discovery, which currently finds him in remote Uzbekistan for a traditional soul-cleansing ritual. Gotta love the stans. As always, the picture above is your first clue, leave guesses in the comments section and I’ll update as necessary. Good luck…
Update: No correct guesses so far, so here’s clue #2:
Update II: We have a winner! The correct answer was Son In Law which features Pauly Shore working on a farm and driving around tractors listening to John Denver tracks. Nice guess by ggill, because the first clue is actually a picture of Hawai’i’s north shore. Congratulations to his week’s winner, Joel. Be sure to tell all of your friends how great you are Joel, but only for this week, because pretty soon greatness will be going out of style. Will that gum you like come back in style? Yes. Thanks to everyone for playing and I’ll see you back here next week.
Oh snap. Is this real? Has another podcast been granted to the masses? It’s real and it hath been granted. That’s right - your fearless East Coast Host, John, has recruited his good friend, PCC2C supporter and resident LOST expert, Neal, to join him in a fruitful podcast discussion about LOST. Most of the discussion is about season 6 of the greatest show ever and what conclusions can be drawn from the clues that are being dished out. It’s a new spin on an old favorite. Get ready…
Friend of the show, Keith Mags, introduced me to a relative of his who is a bonafide star in the great commonwealth of Kentucky: Larry Maglinger, Rod Stewart tribute artist. He’s somewhat of a newcomer to the world of celebrity impersonation, but he has the goods to be a star. I think he should take his show out to Vegas, but for now you’ll have to travel to the unheralded venues that are Owensboro Kentucky’s bars and fairgrounds. You do what you have to do to find greatness. I know you’ll want more after checking out the video below, so head on over to Larry’s website and slake your Stewart thirst.
Back with some tasty treats courtesy of Madame Internet. She’s a sultry dame, that internet, but I’ve let her seduce me over and over so that I may bring back to you only her finest rewards. Feast and waste time at work:
Hark A Vagrant is a nice little web comic courtesy of Kate Beaton who resides in Canada.
More webcomics. Laugh-Out-Loud Cats mixes the absurdity of the modern LOL Cats craze and the old time charm of Krazy Kat strips. The April 11th entry is especially awesome.
Found this over on Pop Candy on USA Today and had to post it here since its creator is located right here in beautiful Charlotte, North Carolina. 5 Minute Marvels is a site that encourages you to draw with your child (nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends all count) for the sheer joy of drawing and send them in for everyone to see. Great concept.
A cool video where old school arcade game characters attack the planet (Courtesy of Slovania’s Twitter feed):
I feel like this is probably old news (probably REALLY old) but I just discovered the Dude Perfect site. These are the guys responsible for most of the ridiculous basketball trick shots you’ve seen on the internet over the years. I’m sure you’ve all been on their site 100 times, but I hadn’t seen it before. So go look at it again.
Finally, I recently made a giant playlist for a friend’s party and posted it on Groove Shark so you can access it any time and turn your next party, gathering, or random Tuesday night into the hottest jam on the block. Make sure you have shuffle selected (button next to “Radio”). If link doesn’t connect, go to grooveshark.com and search for PCC2C. Look under “playlists” tab and it is labeled “Tax Relief Party 2k10″. You’re welcome, Earth.
